Painful truth? Though it releases in the US today, Disney+ is not yet available internationally. No news yet on when it will come to our shores, but I decided to celebrate the launch anyway. Because any excuse to Disneybound is welcome in my book.
And since I feel like Disney+ is best shared with company, I roped in some family and friends to do 3 themes that I’m looking forward to seeing on the app: a live action original movie, a classic animated series, and a reboot.
Lady and the Tramp
For the live action original movie, this was an obvious pick. I mean, how could I not choose Lady and the Tramp with two pups who are perfect for the roles – Koko who really is the most ladylike dog I’ve ever known, and Krunch who is the sweetest rascal in the world.
*If you want to know more about them, I have a blog on the very first Disneybounds we did together. I also tell you more about these adorable babies there. Just click here.)
I set up the famous Bella Notte scene with a low table and a red and white checkered tablecloth as seen in the movie. Spaghetti and a real candle were out of the question, as shooting with these two babies is not an easy task. Put a plate of food in there and an open flame and we’d never get it done lol. So instead, to add a little something extra, I decided to hang some clothes up as well for that back alley feel. And I of course had to give our Lady her signature turquoise collar with a gold nameplate on it (which I made out of glitter foam).
As for my outfits, I decided to do two bounds for this since I couldn’t choose which chef I wanted to dress up as more.
For Tony, I wore a pink shirt, a green vest, black pants, and a white apron around my waist. I also tied a black ribbon around my neck, and added black hairties around the sleeves for his armbands.
And for Joe, I borrowed my mom’s uniform (since she is a pastry chef), and wore a white beret with it to make it look a little more floppy like his. (Since my mom’s chef’s hat is more tall and stiff, and kinda reminded me more of Ratatouille).
Also would you just look at this little kiss? So cute I can’t.
“Side by side with your loved one, you’ll find enchantment here.”
Phineas and Ferb
This one is super special to me because I actually did watch this with my brothers everyday when it was still on the Disney Channel. Even with the weird animation, we found that the writing, humor, and music actually agreed to our varying tastes. And although our relationships are nothing like those of Phineas, Ferb, and Candace (I’m hardly ever mad at them and I’m pretty sure I made more trouble than they did growing up lol), getting to bound siblings with my siblings was really fun.
For Phineas, Khrister wore a pink and yellow striped shirt and blue shorts. And for Ferb, Kuya (Filipino for older brother – his name is actually Karel) wore a pale yellow shirt with a white collar and purple shorts. Both boys wore caps to represent Phineas’ and Ferb’s hair.
And for Candace, I wore an orange cowl neck sweater, a white denim skirt, and a bright pink belt. I also wore an orange bowband for her orange hair.
“Mom! Phineas and Ferb are making a title sequence!”
Hey now, hey now, this is the comeback everyone has been looking forward to most – Lizzie McGuire. I’m actually quite excited about this myself, since Lizzie is about my age now. It would be interesting to see what her cartoon self looks like now. Will she switch out her bright pink shirt, denim capris, and orange flipflops for a practical pantsuit? Or will she be my kind of adult who still wears jeans and Mickey tees to work? Lol. These are important questions.
I have to say, this may have been more challenging to do than the Bella Notte shoot, only because we could. not. stop. laughing. We haven’t dressed this way since high school, which is quite literal for me because both knit tops we’re wearing here I’ve had since I was 15. Lol. The hair clips and excessive accessories felt pretty foreign on our 30 year old bodies, and let’s talk about this scene here for a second.
Who are we talking to here? Each other? Lol. Also as Ayn pointed out, this was much harder to do with thin cellphones than it probably was for Lizzie and Miranda who were using cordless landlines. Her phone kept sliding off, and so did she for that matter – this pose was a little harder to maintain than we thought. Lol. All the same we had so much fun with this shoot, and calling on our early 2000s fashion senses was a pretty entertaining experience.
“Promise me that when we’re here, we’ll find adventure.”
High School Musical
Surprise! Here’s a little bonus bound for the Reboot cateogry.
I have to admit, I don’t know much about the High School Musical series they’re doing apart from how extremely meta it’s going to be. I think it’s about kids doing High School Musical at their high school musical in a show called High School Musical. Do they know that we know that they know we know? Lol (Comment below if you got that reference). So I obviously didn’t think of bounding anything from there. Instead I picked out a classic scene from the very first film with Gabriella and Kelsi.
For Ayn/Kelsi, she wore a khaki anorak jacket over an army green vest, as well as a military cap and glasses. Kelsi loves her layers and hats.
And for Gabriella, I wore a baby pink wraparound top with a simple silver necklace. (Yes that is a Mickey ear pendant. Disney jewelry is all the jewelry I have lol. Apparently adulthood hasn’t quite sunk in yet lol). I also kept my hair in a loose braid like she does in the movie.
“And the world looks so much brighter with you by my side”
