Truly Magical: Summer Lookbook

Merry Christmas! — is what we Filipinos say when the -ber months hit (SeptemBER, OctoBER – you get the idea) lol. But I don’t want to scare you guys away, so I’m going to pretend this is a joke online, while I take out the Christmas decorations IRL lol.

I know the rest of the world is just about ready to celebrate Halloween and all things Fall. And honestly, even if we don’t have 4 seasons here, I’m just about ready to welcome any kind of new start in this weird year. Heck I’m just about ready to welcome 2021 if I’m being honest.

But before I go into my Fall content here and on Instagram, I thought I’d do one last Summer blog since Fall doesn’t technically begin until September 22. (Yes, I looked it up. lol)

I’ve actually already posted these photos on my Instagram – you can find the post here, but I realized I never really shared my oufits and ears in full detail.

TROPICAL FLORAL PRINT

The top that started it all.

This wasn’t even going to be a lookbook originally. I just took some random outfit photos that I knew would fit my Summer Color Palette. But when I saw this top in my closet, I realized I had inadvertently put together some Summer trends. So instead of posting them individually, I decided to share these photos together.

The funny thing is, this men’s floral top isn’t even mine lol. It’s been sitting in my closet for a while completely ignored, until I realized I could repurpose it into something Disney – a crop top and matching ears.

For the outfit, I chose yellow linen wide-leg pants and yellow sandals (not seen here, but you can see them on my Instagram). And for the ears, I used the excess fabric from the shirt, light brown linen fabric, some jute around the seams, and to top it off, small yellow flowers.

TIE DYE

Okay, I know this isn’t exactly tie dye, but it’s the closest I have to it. Tie dye has been such a huge trend, especially during quarantine. But for some reason I never got around to trying it. I keep saying that I’m going to test it out on an old Mickey tee but I keep forgetting lol. So instead, I took out this dress I’ve had for over 10 years (I kid you not lol).

When I was planning out my feed palette for Instagram, I knew I needed something bright pink to work with all the colors I chose. But as I mentioned in my last blog, I’m not really a bright pink kind of girl. So I really had to dig through my closet to find this old thing. It was worth it for the amazing colors though, and made even better because I found an excuse to make yet another pair of sequin ears. Lol.

COLOR BLOCK STRIPES

Yet another outfit I’ve had for a while. What can I say, not a lot of shopping has been done during quarantine (which I’ve actually been enjoying quite a bit), so I’ve been able to focus on creating with what I already have.

This striped co-ord was another palette choice, and it definitely helped me capture that Summer vibe. Paired it with the turquoise ears I made for a different shoot last year, as well as my firetruck-red Mickey bag.

And just like that, summer ends, and Autumn comes.

I hope that through all these passing seasons, you find strength, hope, and magic.
