Truly Magical: Rock the Dots Lookbook

I know I’ve been all about Mickey Style on this blog. And I (like the rest of the world) probably don’t celebrate this gal as much as I should. But today is all about her – Minnie Mouse – the original style queen, and the one who made polkadots and bows cool. So I’m wearing both in all the styles and colors I can come up with to honor this icon on her special day – #RocktheDots!

I put together a lookbook to mark the occasion (as I usually do). And since Minnie is such a fun, sweet, loving, and colorful girl, I decided to create polkadot outfits in every color of the rainbow.

RED

I know you can hardly see the dots on this midi skirt, but I swear they’re there! Lol. Paired that with a red shirt with a Minnie bow on it, white slip-on sneakers, a white belt, my DIY sparkly classic Minnie ears, and this Minnie denim jacket that I am absolutely obsessed with. I thought if I was going to go all out on a Minnie outfit, it should be in her classic color, amiright? Lol.

ORANGE

I didn’t have anything in orange polkadots, but I did have this super comfy brown wrap skirt. So I decided to build my orange look on it by adding this off-shoulder top, an orange bowband, and brown suede ankle boots.

YELLOW

This one has got to be my favorite look, just because it’s so bright and happy. Wore my favorite yellow polkadot pants with a yellow shoulder-tie tank top. For shoes, I went with my jute wedges, and for ears – my DIY classic ears with switchable bowbands.

GREEN

Took out my mint green pleated polkadot skirt for this, then added a matching sweater on top. Accessorized with a white belt and white pumps, and to make it Disney – I added my mint green denim jacket with a Mickey patch. (Which reminds me, I should probably start getting more Minnie patches)

BLUE

Kept it casual and cool for my blue fit in my Minnie shirt, blue overalls, bright blue baseball cap, and white sneakers. (Although this would have been perfect with some yellow sneakers, which I’ve been dying to find forever. Send me links! Or don’t because I should really stop shopping. Lol)

VIOLET

Next to the yellow outfit, this is probably at the top of my favorites list. Found this adorable purple ruffled crop top which I thought went perfectly with my pastel denim skirt. I also wore these purple and white ears that I made years ago, and I kept it comfy in my go-to pair of slip-on sneakers. Absolutely love how girly, sweet, and playful this outfit came out, just like our girl Minnie.

Okay, we’ve got a couple of bonus rounds here. I know these two looks aren’t part of the ROYGBV spectrum, but one look is a classic and the other is a classic for me. Lol.

BLACK AND WHITE

First up is this black and white number. I wanted to pay tribute to Minnie’s original look, so I picked out this adorable little tulle dress with shoulder ties (that I actually bought at the teen section lol). Paired it with my favorites – my white pumps, Tokyo glove ears, and the pièce de résistance – my Disney belt.

PINK

This is what I meant when I said classic for me. Pink is my color, and I can’t do a color-based lookbook without it. Because I just can’t okay? Don’t judge me. Lol.

This Minnie crossbody with the sparkly pink bow is what created this look actually. I made a pink and white off-shoulder crop top and matching bowband specifically to wear with it, because that’s the kind of person I am. Lol. And to tone the bright pinks down a little bit, I wore my trusty white denim skirt to tie the whole fit together.

“I love getting to share a day like today with all my friends.”
