Pastel Colors, #ButMakeItDisney

In the world of quarantine and social distancing, I have turned to the one thing that has been keeping me sane: DIYs.

I have always found happiness in planning and making my own outfits for my Disney trips. In fact, I think I may love the pre-park process just as much as actually going to them. So even though I don’t really know when I will be able to see our beloved castle again, my Disney DIYs have given me much needed positivity and hope.

So I decided to come up with a new series for this blog: #ButMakeItDisney – where I will take a basic fashion element, and make it Disney by adding a DIY.

In this first installment, I’m taking pastel colored clothing items, and turning them into Disney outfits by adding my DIY floral Minnie ears.

Truly Magical: Spring Disneybound #DisneyPrincess Lookbook

I know the world is a scary place to live in right now. And this may not be the best time to talk about Disney and sunshine and flowers. But to be honest, I’d like to keep a bit of magic going even if it is just in my own little way.

And for me, that way is through (Disney) style.

Since Spring is the ultimate representation of fresh starts, I’m using my little corner of sunshine for positivity and hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Truly Magical: Cinderella 70th Anniversary Lookbook

One of my favorite Disney movies of all time turns 70 today! Can you believe it? SEVENTY. Seven decades of music, and hope, and magic.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, I’ve decided to gather seven looks I’ve done the past couple of years – a review of bounds, styles, and cosplays I’ve created to celebrate the most iconic Princess of all time – Cinderella.

In case you didn’t know, Ella also happens to be one of my favorite Princesses. I’ve actually done a few blogs about her already (I’ll link them below), talking about how much her quiet strength and unwavering kindness have helped make me into the person I am today. She’s inspired me in so many ways, and has been a steady guiding light throughout my life.

Disney Prinsesa: The Filipina Rapunzel

Best day ever!

If you’re just tuning in now, I created a blog series called #DisneyPrinsesa where I reimagine my favorite Princesses into versions of them that are a little closer to home – as Filipinas. Last year I did Disney Princess inspired looks for Philippine Independence Day. This year for my birthday, I worked with their actual costumes.

I’ve already featured two Princesses in my previous blog posts – Belle and Cinderella. (I suggest reading those first before coming back to this one for the full story)

But for the final installment of this series, I saved my favorite look for last – Continue reading

Disney Prinsesa: The Filipina Cinderella

Part II of my #DisneyPrinsesa series is here!

As part of my birthday month celebration, I took my original idea last year of making Princess inspired looks out of Philippine fabrics and design elements, and decided to up my game a bit by making Filipina versions of their actual live action costumes instead.

I picked out my 3 favorite Princesses for this, and started off with my childhood heroine Belle (which you can read here).

Next up on this blog series is –

Disney Prinsesa: the Filipina Belle

What would a Filipina Disney Princess look like?

On Philippine Independence Day last year, I wrote a blog about finding inspiration and hope in the Disney Princesses despite never quite finding one that looked like me growing up. Though the qualities and morals of each Princess have helped shaped me into the person I am today, and though I strongly believe that we are all the same where it matters, I wanted to bring my love for Disney and my love for my country together.

So I decided to start #DisneyPrinsesa – a campaign to promote Philippine culture by showcasing local textiles and design elements through what I know best – Disney Style.

Weeks were spent planning, sketching, gathering materials, and sewing eight different ensembles (and even Mickey ears) to come up with the Disney Prinsesa lookbook I would have loved to see as a young girl. And finally being able to see it all come together was definitely a dream come true for my Filipina heart.

But as a little birthday celebration this year, I wanted to take #Prinsesa one step further. Instead of Princess inspired looks, I wanted to work with the actual costumes of my favorite Princesses, and come up with Filipina versions of each of them.

So before my birthday month ends, I am sharing 3 blogs – one for each of the Princesses who have most influenced my childhood, and guided me in adulthood.

And I am starting this series off with –

Truly Magical: Rock the Dots Lookbook

I know I’ve been all about Mickey Style on this blog. And I (like the rest of the world) probably don’t celebrate this gal as much as I should. But today is all about her – Minnie Mouse – the original style queen, and the one who made polkadots and bows cool. So I’m wearing both in all the styles and colors I can come up with to honor this icon on her special day – #RocktheDots!

Katsie Disney Style: Affordable Disney (Forever 21)

My first Affordable Disney blog for the year is here!

And this one is pretty fun, since I’m doing this themed to my birthday – which was actually on the 4th, but it’s still my birthday month so this counts right? Right. Lol.

In case you haven’t read any of my Affordable Disney blogs before (I’ll link the previous ones at the end), this is a monthly series I do where I style 1 locally-sourced Disney piece 5 different ways. But this month, I thought I’d switch it up a bit with 1 regular item styled 5 different Disney ways.

Truly Magical: New Year’s Eve Disney Lookbook

It’s the end of another decade.

I cannot believe how quickly time has passed, and how much has happened this past year. I’ll save my recap for a different blog post, but for now, I’d like to share my last lookbook for 2019!

I’ve done so many of these for the past months that I can’t even keep track anymore. It’s been a busy time for the blog, and to be honest, out of all the monthly series I have done here – Disney Capsule Wardrobe, Affordable Disney, and Style to Bound to Cosplay – these Truly Magical Lookbooks are my favorite. So I thought it was only fitting to end the year with one.

Since I celebrate pretty much everything with Disney Style now, I figured I’d welcome 2020 the same way. With fun, dreams, and magic – which is exactly what I hope the next decade will bring.
